When to call us for windows

Windows are made to size, so timing matters more than people think. We work alongside your foreman or contractor, and we quote from your plans.

  1. While the walls go up

Tell us your window sizes early. We'll say if an opening needs changing before it's set in concrete.

  2. After plastering

We measure the finished openings ourselves, because plaster changes the size.

  3. Square, level openings

Ask your mason to keep openings square and level. We check them before we order.

  4. Install before final paint

Frames go in and get sealed before the last coat of paint.

Fixing or replacing?

The windows problems we see most

Rusty, rattling old windows

Old steel and aluminium frames corrode, rattle, and let in sideways rain.

Water under the frame

The gap between frame and wall was never sealed properly, or the drainage slots are blocked.

Windows that don't fit

Sizes guessed or copied from the old frame, with big gaps stuffed with sealant.

Frames that bend

Large windows without steel reinforcement inside the frame can warp in heat and wind.

How we do it right

Our windows checklist

  1. We measure every opening

On site, ourselves. If it doesn't fit, that's on us.

  2. Specs on the quote

Frame profile, glass type and glass thickness, written down.

  3. Reinforced frames

Steel reinforcement inside the frame for large windows.

  4. Level, square, fixed

Fixed into the wall and checked level, not just held by foam.

  5. Sealed inside and out

Drainage slots kept clear so rain runs out, not in.

  6. Tested with you

Every sash, lock and seal checked before we leave.

Before you hire anyone

Four questions to ask any window installer

Ask whoever you're thinking of hiring, us included. A good answer is specific. "Don't worry, boss" isn't an answer.

  1. Is there steel reinforcement inside the frame?
  2. What glass thickness, and is it tempered?
  3. Who measures, you or me?
  4. How do you seal the gap between the frame and the wall?

Questions

Windows: what people ask

Is uPVC worth it?

uPVC won't rust, keeps out more heat and noise, and needs little care. It costs more upfront than basic aluminium. We'll explain what suits each opening.

Can you replace windows without breaking the wall?

Usually. We take out the old frame, repair the opening, and fit the new one. Any wall repair is on the quote.

How long until they're installed?

Windows are made to your sizes, so there's a lead time. Your quote states the install date.
